ATASCOSA COUNTY INDIGENT HEALTH CARE PROGRAM

Services Provided: Physician visits, Hospital in-patient and out-patient services, up to 3 prescription meds per month, payment of existing unpaid medical claims (in some cases)

Eligibility Requirements: Eligbility process does not allow for emergency services. Must provide documentation needed to determine place of residence within Atascosa County, household income, and household resources cannot exceed $2,000.

Cost of Services: No cost to clients

How quickly can customer receive service: Eligibility must be determined within two weeks. As soon as documentation is provided, eligibility is usually determined within one week. Services can begin as soon as the client is able to present eligibility documentation.

Other Information: This program is also open to undocumented aliens who meet eligibility requirements. Indigent Health Care is by law the payer of last resort, so all other responsibilities will be explored first (when medically appropriate to do so). Households with minor children need to be screened first for Medicaid eligibility.
